Because I'm an inveterate birder, my favorites change a lot. This summer, it has been the American Song Sparrow. Each bird has its unique signature song, and some are quite amazing. But some perennial favorites include the Mockingbird for its incredible jazz riffs (the only way I can describe them); and the Cardinal because it sings all year round and looks bright and beautiful all year round. The Cardinal represents my hope for Spring in the dead of dreary winter.

I can't choose between the Great Blue Heron, the yellow finches or the cardinals. I love the cry of the loon and the wild geese, although up close and personal they do nothing for me.
I love cardinals. For awhile, we had a mating pair living nearby that would visit our feeder. I also like finches, but my sentimental favorite is the red-headed woodpecker, my favorite bird from childhood.
thanks mojo. I addressed that bird in your private messages.

It is the Roadrunner. They catch a snake or other prey, break its neck and then eat it.
I love budgies! So cute and intelligent. I love parrots in general but especially budgies... of course, I'm biased since I grew up with them. They're probably my favourite, although there are lots of birds I want to list... one I noticed recently that I just found out the name of is the spotted turtle dove.
