AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO FEELS THIS WAY?

It may go against the true meaning of Christmas, but in a weird way the commercialization of Christmas actually helps get me in the holiday spirit. Although it is a bit annoying when it happens too early, during the season itself I don't mind it so much. The Christmas advertising, the Christmas specials on tv, and the Christmas music playing in stores is all a part of the holiday atmosphere to me.

No, I feel the same way. 9
You are a slave to the machine! 6
Well, it's not so surprising considering you grew up in New Jersey. 3
WHAT??? Yes, you are indeed a freak. 2

It's sort of like how going to church encourages you to be a better Christian...unless of course you go to one of those churches where everyone's snobby and materialistic and only get into the Christmas spirit because of the advertising and commercialization...just kidding!

I'm from Jersey too. Must be something in the atmosphere, maybe from Bayonne.

Yay! Me, too. It wouldn't be Christmas to me without all the hoopla--boring boring. Christmas commercialism ROCKS.

So you all like that Paul McCartney song then?

IC_ratz The only thing I like about Christmas is the ten days or so paid holiday leave, otherwise it has zilch meaning to me, and I'm not being a scrooge, my innocence took a major hit when my dad told me as a child that there was no Santa and that he had been buying the presents cry - his explanation - he didn't like the fact that some mythical character was getting all the credit. so for me it's a case of.....Here lies Christmas IC_rip rolleyes lol

^^ Smooth...I think you mean John's "And so this is Christmas"...not Paul's.

I guess that all adds to the 'Christmas spirit' but I also get real sick of all the hype that's out there. Plus, it starts too early. I went to Wal-Mart last year to buy a lawnmower blade, but everything had been replaced by Christmas stuff. I was still mowing my yard! Pissed me off.

The commercialization is what drives me away from the spirit of the season, which is odd to think about, considering how I feel about religious things.

I used to feel that way, nuck. But the commercialism just crossed thresholds and became too starkly, blatantly grasping and greedy.
