the amount of fear mongering by the bush administration leads me to believe that their core-supporters respond to this type of rhetoric.

It takes a lot of moral courage to stand up to the evils of exploitation, pointless wars and to fight for the freedoms so hard won by our forefathers

I've never seen a bigger bunch of bedwetters as I have in the past 5 years or so ... afraid of anything and everything,a qnd willing to take on any amount of authoritarian control for the illusion of security.
but you can't really blame the people for being afraid, especially when those ones in power keep us knee deep in manufactured threats. but people are becoming smarter. I don't see them upping the terror alert color before this election do we?

Neither or both A coward is one who, in a perilous emergency, thinks with his legs. Ambrose Bierce
How could anything be more cowardly than the idiotic pro-war, military-avoiding neo-cons? Talk about shameless, jerks.
Just realised I put liberal instead of conservative as my ballot choice.... D'OH

They respond to fear (Communists, gays, minorities, and so on)

They crusade against change, stray from reality while trying to impose their archaic beliefs on every soul... those with differing opinions or contrary lifestyles, like liberals, they just want dead... all out of some form of fear!

I agree with elvis.
No side has a lock on this. Republicans are 'afraid' of real threats like terrorists, and fake threats like homosexual marriages. Liberals are afraid of real threats like the influence of religion in american politics, and fake threats like global warming being caused by republicans.
But I like to see that all the usual 'holier than thou, don't make broad generalization types' are jumping right to making broad generalizations about millions of people based on spurious personal observations. If having standards is a good thing does that make double standards twice as good?
Like elvis said, neither or both. Until we get up and try to run for public office in an effort to make a change, we're more coward than either of them.
well said grumpy
Right, Cathexis, LCD, Steelhamster? The broad generalizations you made here were simply mistakes, and in fact you meant to limit your answer to only a handful of individuals, not tar millions of people with your observed actions of a few. Now go ahead and write what you meant to say.
Ha! OK, ... ya got me, herz! I should have said "many members of the Far Right movement, and many ferverent Bush supporters, strike me as exhibiting these characteristics."
Herz, if you spent a fraction of the time you spend rationalizing GOP actions and looking for insult on actually examining the GOP and holding them accountable to principles ... any principles ... Well ... let's just say you wouldn't come across as so desperate.
^^ are you kidding? so are you saying from now on you will not continuously post news articles about some muslim father raping a goat in hicktown, Iraq and try to paint all muslims with the same brush? ok, I am game. lets' see who does it first.

All I can say Herzog, if you are so passionate about the war against Tourism (sorry terrorism) why are you so loathe to sign up for the infantry? You show great pains in condemning one group or the other (Muslims, Democrats, Liberal etc) but you seem unwilling to put yourself in harms way. So the question and answers are valid.
It's good that some of you were able to see your double standard and correct it, sort of.
No double standard here, so perhaps you are misreading things

What did Rush Limbaugh say he was doing... "carrying water for those who don't deserve it"... Now that's cowardice!
conservatives are the cowboy/football players and liberals are the skinny stinky professors. If you mean coward as in getting in a fight I would bet conervative.
