COMMENTS:
More GOP hypocrisy. BTW, let's see how they treat all the veterans, once their utility is gone.

There is a lot of 'demoralizing our troops' going on right here on this site. Do you ever get (or see) letters from USA soldiers in Iraq who know that there are many ordinary USA (and other) citizens making hurtful statements about them ? It breaks one's heart to know this. Never let your hate for the present administration and Republican Party present itself as scorn for the 'troops'. As for the Food Stamps question: Some soldier families do need and do receive them.
^Too bad pro-war, pro-Bush worshippers don't do more to actually support the troops than simply criticize those who are fairly pointing out how bad Bush is treating the soldiers he is using, yes using, in his Iraq oil war.
And it's shameful that our soldiers can be so poor that they need food stamps. It's simply wrong, but the conservatives certainly aren't going to do anything about it.
I think as the president, he should go to each funeral, and assure the wife and kids that they will be taken care of by the grateful nation that sent him to die in that awful godforsaken desert. if he only gives up 5% of the money he and Cheney skimmed off this war, the soldiers family won't have to be on food stamps.

if they need them they should get them. but they shouldn't have to since they're our soldiers and they put their lives on the line. the government has a responsibility to make sure they can make ends meet. as for demoralizing the troops, it's no secret we've been sponsoring an entire platton in iraq. its like an 'adopt a soldier" program. they tell us in letters that they feel very much appreciated by the american people. i don't think they feel demoralized at all. i think its the opposite since they're getting all well wishes and not any kind of hate.
There you go again, cracky ! You haven't a clue. Your so-called 'pro-Bush worshippers' are the ones who support the troops with on-going words of encouragement to them, packages from home to them, prayers for them, support groups at home working to ensure their safety and some happiness while they serve their country. Sad to say, many soldiers were poor and on food stamps before going into the military. In the military, their self-esteem grows and higher education is available to them. While, you, cracky, sit here on your comfortable chair and spew poison not only against the current administration and all Republicans, but also (your poison) onto the soldiers. Kev24: thank you for your personal involvement to support our troops. Cracky, you do well at bashing the Republicans. Yes, you do it well. President Bush has gone to many of the funerals. There is always a representative of the president at the funerals.
Voted : No, they should not be on food stamps. They deserve the very best that America has to offer.
When my ex-wife was stationed at Fort Ord in the early 80's I noticed that GI's were on food stamps--nothing new about GI's on food stamps. Hate to burst your bubble, but several I met bragged about it. Speaking of demoralizing, check out the reaction of an officer when his/her child starts dating someone form the enlisted ranks. I've yet to witness a United States citizen demoralize a soldier for serving in Iraq (To equate disapproval with the war with demoralization is just plain stupid). If someone were to print or promote demoralizing media concerning United States soldiers I'd be very suspicious of the Republican side of the fence. If I worked for the propaganda department of the Republican Party I'd start putting out demoralizing material ASAP and then blame the Democrats. Black lava, scorning the troops may be low class, but it's within one's Constitutional rights to do so. It's a hard pill to swallow, but those troops defend that right every single day.
Yes, elvislennon, and every one of them volunteered! I can think of only two B&W.com users who have volunteered. Of course, it's a Constitutional right to scorn USA soldiers. You have just proven that we have all sorts of rights. Having that right doesn't mean that one mustexercise it, does it ??

I had hoped to point out that these people are our country's finest. If we can afford a war, they should be able to afford food for their families.

Come on! Just because they risk life and limb daily for Our Great Way of Life (TM)? What are these folks in our Guv'mint thinking? (now surgically removing tongue from cheek)
"President Bush has gone to many of the funerals." I don't think that's right, dazzle. I don't think Bush has gone to ANY funerals. And so, dazzle, you send the troops a box of cookies and a nice postcard of your trailer? Wonderful! I'm sure that provides a lot of comfort to a soldier who has just had half his body parts blown off by an IED, while serving in the Bush/Cheney oil war. "Sad to say, many soldiers were poor and on food stamps before going into the military." Oh, so keeping them poor while they are in the military is a good thing, then? Wouldn't want to give them a shock by providing them enough to eat? And, dazzle, once again, spewing my "poison" on the Mr. Chimpy and his crooks for selfishly and corruptly starting an oil war in Iraq isn't criticism of the troops, as you so pathetically claim. But I'm not surprised you would say that: Bush has been hiding behind the troops from Day One. And if you are such loving, supportive person, why do more people have you on their Ignore list than on their Favorites list?
Voted : No, they should not be on food stamps. They deserve the very best that America has to offer.
They should be paid enough to not need them. Congress should also pay for combat bonuses instead of rejecting them.
