I find it interesting that an American asks this question. We in Britain all know Jimi was born in the USA but had to come to the UK to receive any recognition because of widespread racism in his home country.

keithsheen- everybody knows the brits booed Jimi when they first heard the way he played with distortion. He didn't get his break until The Monterey Pop Festival. Although there was alot of racism in America (and still is) that never stopped Nat King Cole, Sammy Davis Jr. or other black musicians from success before and after Hendrix.
