Steffi Graf is the only woman in history to win the Golden Slam, and the only woman to win all four Slams at least four times. No contest...Martina Navratilova should merit
consideration for second.
Serena had one great year, but Steffi has had at least four years like that were just as good if not better to Serena's 2002 season. Greatness is achieved over a long time, not over a period of several years, like the Williams sisters. Serena and Venus are great players in their own right, but they are nowhere near the level of Graf, Evert, Seles, Navratilova and other alltime greats yet. They may get there or may not, depending on their outside
interests.
It is not Steffi.For her to potentially become the best she would have had to hit her back hand properly and maybe advance to the net.. She did not have enough competition throughout her career.Martina was at the end of her career and basically equal and Sabatini who dominated her at one point retired early having long struggled with motivation.Graf would not have gotten ahead of Seles overall who was awesome.The best of all time would have been determined between Seles at her best and Hingis.Im not able to rate serena because they are not playing tennis anymore but &*^%$ rocketball.Rackets on steroids.If Graf were playing over the last 5 or 6 years shed be only ranked 5 or 6.Unless she improved her overall game.
You cant even compare todays stars to the old school players. The racquet technology has started to ruin the game, esp for the men. So many of the points are won just because of the power on the serve. The old wooden racquets didnt have the capability of producing so much force. It gives the very strong players a big advantage. And are the William's sisters women? They look like they are on 'roids!
Id hand over a million for a night with Serena
