COMMENTS:
Religious people are also more likely to volunteer time - 67 percent to 44 percent. 92% of Protestants give, 91% of Catholics and Jews, and 89% of those belonging to other religions.

This holds true whether the religious or secular people are liberal or conservative. Liberal or conservative religious people (or secular) give at the same rate.

Caring versus caring about certain issues are a driving factor in donations, IMO.

I would think it would depend on the person and on the charity.

you have to consider the charity as well. many charities are religious.

also, are you including 6 day athists as religious? that'll throw off your numbers.

I guess I might think religious people, but having said that, I think giving to those in need is directly connected to one's character and empathy, qualities that are present in secular as well as religious people.
