its in new york city. it is hugely successful. the kids love it, adapt well, mature faster, do better in school than they were and they're more outgoing. it works. it's also not a proposal of some formal kind. there's no difference when catholic kids go to school with nothing but other catholic kids. there's no difference than having all boys schools or all-girls schools. there's been some kind of "sepratism" in education for hundreds of years. it's also optional. if parents want their kids to go there, great. if not,t they don't.

We're all one species, whether the more fundamentalist elements of it care to realize such. As some wise man once said, "If we don't stand together, we'll all fall apart." Or something to that effect.
Milk was a gay politician shot by White, who hated gays and successfully used the "twinky defense" to get a reduced sentence. As for the question, segregation isn't the best answer unless the alternative is worse.
When has segregation ever been conducive to tolerance and understanding? Not to mention the double standard. By this logic, presumably plans are already under way for a heterosexual school, where gay pupils are not allowed?
That's just plain stupid why don't they seperate all the fat kids all the kids with Ginger hair all the kids with spotty faces into single schools.

okay, guess i have to repeat this. they are not separating anyone by force. you have all heard of the high school for performing arts right? its where kids go who plan on working in the arts -- singing, dancing, acting, musical instruments, etc. you've all heard of the school for math and science right? where kids go who excel in math and science. duh ;) like i pointed out, there are all boys schools and all girls schools. there are military academy's and there are all catholic schools, all muslim schools and all jewish schools. there is in fact, within every school advance placement students who never have classes with less accomplished students. now do you see the picture? the school is there if a gay student choses to attend. if not, so be it. just like a boy who opts for an all boys school, or a girl for an all girls school. they do have those in england, right? i thought as much. so there you have it. think before commenting.
I disagree with any school that only accepts members of a certain social group. Schools can CONCENTRATE on Catholic/jewish/gay studies, but they should have to accept other pupils as well. So I understand what you are saying, but I disagree with ALL those types of schools.

you can't isolate yourself in the real world. segregating is not a good thing - we need to learn to live together with a measure of tolerance and we also need to check each other when extremists get out of line. we can't really learn to do that if we isolate ourselves.
and high school can be hell for any number of reasons
In the long run, schools like this would only perpetuate the alienation that many gay teenagers feel. Nevertheless, it's nice to have that option.

I disagree completely with the whole separating gays during high school will cause more alienation... High School is not real life, and kids should be aware of that... it shouldn't be a popularity contest... it should be about education. Public schools are geared for heterosexual activities, as well as its funding... Gay kids in public school, in most cases, are treated with the least amount of respect of any minority... even by teachers and other individuals in positions of authority... yet, at University, Gay's excel and flourish. Alternative schools for gay teens, whom choose to attend, is a great idea...
