Yes, because it gives the consumer a choice that they otherwise may not be given by their doctor.

If you mean all of those Ad for drugs and all these other Pharmaceuticals, the answer is no. Too much already.

With the vague symptons they describe in the ads, people are self diagnosing themselves and telling the Doctor what they want, rather than the Doctor diagnosing and prescribing the medicine/drugs. should the Doctor not give the patient what they want, they simply go to another doctor...in effect, Doctors have become drug dealers...
