The people who know me on this site know that I have been divorced twice and that I am with someone again and that we have been together for a while now.
So I can say from experience that I have done both.
Is it better? Well Yes… and No.
Finding someone that you have “great sex” with is one thing. And finding someone that you want to spend the future with is two different things. After I got divorced, (the second time) I was only thirty-three years old. I seems that I was with every single, bar hopping girl that lived in Columbus, Miss. (and some that may not have been single). During that time, I was with a few girls; we stay together for a stretch of time, and then move on to someone else. The ones that I had the “great sex” with seem to last just a little longer that the rest. But I was not looking to get married and/or move in with. And for the most part neither was they. Those experiences mark a special time in my live that I have moved on from and that I am a better person now for it.

Six months is hardly a fling. It's more like a serious commitment. Everybody should have both, though - not at the same time, of course.
