COMMENTS:
I believe it has a lot to do with the short term profit driven mindset that society in general seems to have. Rather than looking at long term implications of choices made today, people seem to turn a blind eye on seniors, choosing instead to live for now and not think about the fact that they themselves will be senior citizens someday. I see advertisements for cheap drug plans, which seem like shady ways for some asshole to make money off our elderly, and also young people putting their parents into homes that are little more than 'waiting for death' camps. It makes me a little angry, really, to think about it. As the baby boomer generation gets older, there are going to be a lot more senior citizens, will this help them get more rights? I hope at some point we recognize a need for better rights and services for our elderly, after all, you will be one someday.
I hope they fix these problems soon. Either that, or work till you're eighty.
Voted : short sighted money driven choices, fail to see long term implications
I agree with you, jappy. It's a "live for today" society, damn the future.
