Reagan used to talk about "cutting their allowance." You'd think that decicits would threaten military spending as well, in the long run.
In the U.S., at least in recent history, defense spending has been a sacred cow.

i've told people about this but few believe me. it's their way of getting rid of social programs they don't like -- which are most of them.
The idea is so morally repugnant, that many people can't believe it is anything but a myth. Yet, there are still rightwing idiots who blast on their butt trumpets about what a great concept it is.
No wonder the right has done so much damage to the U.S. in just six years.
^ exactly. they dismiss anything that makes them think as being a "conspiracy theory." amazing at how much like sheep many of them are -- despite being the ones to boldly declare themselves as "true americans who love freedom." ha! the party the follow like mindless zombies are about anything but freedom. ironic, ain't it?
