This is what we get for treating mental disorders exclusively as diseases; everyone has a diagnosis, or they think they do. MAG_Rx

They should incorporate more psychology into basic school curriculums imo.

i'm not sure i would actually call it a "mental illness" but i can be prone to depression at times. Over the years, i have become better at recognizing its approach and fending it off. I think mine has been set off by events in my life I feel i can't resolve. I've learned to detach myself from these things and proceed with my life. It may sound cold - but it's a matter of survival. And i'm genuinely happier - or at least more at ease. A good therapist can sometimes set you on the right track, and you can learn to help yourself. and if that doesn't work - there are medications that can help too. Don't struggle alone.

I agree that tehy shouldn't be called mental illnesses and diseases. All this labeling of mental illnesses is just way to keep the pharmaceutical industry running and selling pills. Different people are just prone to different things. Given the certain circumstance and genetics they could be unstable during certain times. There was a doctor who did a study I heard about patients in hospitals with schizophrenia, and he found out that all of them had improved after giving them B vitamins. Schizophrenia is a result of B vitamin deficiency.

But it's on the way, if I keep stressing out over things I have no control over.

Funny thing though, all of the drugs I've been prescribed for my anxiety/depression seem to only make me more anxious and depressed.

Only opiates have helped me, which I don't recommend.

it is called "Reality".

I agree with Applerod, people are quick to diagnose you with something and OFTEN miss the REAL problem. Everyone is different though, you can't treat one for all it has to seriously be on a case by case basis...
