WHO WOULD WIN A BOXING MATCH: A GAY AMERICAN OR A STRAIGHT FRENCH LEFTIST?

[+] serious ballot by Felix
created Sat Jan 20, 07
Of course, despite insidious stereotypes, my cash would be bet on the redblooded gay American male! Far from being effete esthetic types, many of the gay friends I've had spent quite a few hours working out at the gym each and every week. As a result, they were in trim fighting condition, and, being sadly accustomed to physical threats from homophobes, could defend themselves admirably.

On the other hand, the average French leftist appears to have terrible health habits--not exercising regularly, eating a high fat-high alcohol diet, and regularly wrecking their mental health by reading Sartre or other depressing existentialist philosophers or post-modern, anti-Western fiction authors. I think they could barely make it (at an insouciant stroll) from the cafe to the ring.

So, who would win?

Gay American male 66%
Straight French leftist male 24%
Whichever one wasn't a neocon 9%

Hahah. Great ballot.

I would go with the cop from VP, he was arrested recently in the SF Bay Area and he seems pretty tough.

I reckon the 6'5" French fella will pound the mincing 5'6" yank into the dust, lol :-)
by ramaDUNG on Sat Jan 20, 07 8:46pm [+]

Hey, DUNG, you might want to meet a few actual gay males, 18-24 demographic, before you make that call. Trust me, it won't be like the casting call for "Ed Wood."

by Felix on Sat Jan 20, 07 11:15pm [+]

a 6'5" frenchman? hahahaha
by TinCan on Sun Jan 21, 07 1:27am [+]

Just pointing out the fact that this ballot of yours fails to specify anything except the pugilists' nationality & sexual proclivity, Felix.

Not really enough to go on, is it?

TinCan: you're really suggesting that nobody in France is 6'5"? You appear to be letting your prejudices cloud your judgement, fella. Or you're a fucking moron, one or the other.

If we're taking an average. Gay men in the US are fit. Straight men in France are sissy.
by thc2883 on Sun Jan 21, 07 7:06am [+]

^ Isn't it time you WOKE UP & stopped believing the retarded hollywood shite?

I realise you'll find it sooo hard to let go of those wishful-thinking prejudices, but perhaps you should go to France & allow yourself to be educated for once in your life.

Until then, get the fuck off the Internet. Your childish opinions have no place here.
by ramaDUNG on Sun Jan 21, 07 7:25am [+]

Uhmm, DUNG, precisely how many gay American men do you think are neocons, anyway? Log Cabin Republicans excepted, I'm sure!

By the way, I HAVE been to Paris and swore never to repeat the experience. I don't see any reason not to continue with my reasonably frequent and generally pleasant trips to Asia, as versus another sinking into that Slough of Despondency that is the Gallic Dominions.

Oh, and I had quite a chuckle when I read that crack you made about "wishful-thinking prejudices" when I reconsidered all of your comic book, Manichaean bullshit you've posted here about your views of the United States and its inhabitants. If anyone could use some remedial internet access training, it is tu, big daddy.
by Felix on Sun Jan 21, 07 8:53am [+]

Oh, pardon, DUNG, it was cranky who posted the "neocon" joke on the ballot choice list, but everything else stands.

Like most British people, I dont have much love for the French. Centuries of constant war has bred that into my very genes and culture after all.

Howvever, I like even less the now fashionable frog bashing engaged in by many American citziens, which in reality is punishment for refusing to be drawn into or support an invasion that, in hindsight, was almost certainly illegal and based on false pretence.

I dislike this for two, maybe three reasons, namely,

1) I wish Tony Blair has had the testicular fortitude to refuse to be drawn into, what i think most now agree, was an unwarranted, illegal invasion of another sovereign state under false pretence, simply to gain favour with the Washington bigwigs.

2) Frog bashing is OUR favourite pastime, and as such I resent it being subverted by our trans Atlantic friends. We have a long history of conflict with our cross solant neightbours, and have REASON to insult them. We have been doing it for a long time and we will continue doing it for a long time after the fad has swept into Americas left ear and passed out the other.

It turns out there were only two reasons.

I know that most people think the French are cowards and perhasp when it comes to the French military that is true but when it comes to the French people themselves it's a completely different story.Especially when it comes to the youth and/or the leftist the French seem to have a violent streak.Remember last year when the French government wanted to cut off some of the cushy job benefits the youths were guaranteed and the leftist nearly burnt Paris down? That doesn't sound like the actions of a frightened men to me.

Felix: I encounter retarded, parochial Americans every day on the Internet, and there is plenty of goofy, whooping US culture on European cable television (in documentaries as well as hollywood dross) to give us all an idea of how a certain type of american behaves and interacts.

Somehow, I doubt that you have a similar level of exposure with your little trip to Paris... and you're more of a buffoon than I gave you credit for if you think that you'll get a good impression of an entire nationality from a short visit to that nation's capital!

PS re. your feeble attempt at French: that's "toi", not "tu"... ha ha, I love it when posturing twats get it wrong whilst trying to be clever :-)

huh? je ne comprehends pas . . .
by mojo on Sun Jan 21, 07 5:37pm [+]

This ballot was already a ballot about Euro-american relations before anybody participated.

It's easy to see why the US is so popular around the world if you people think it's OK to attack other nations like this without provocation.

Strange how you don't think it's "humour" when others do it to you, though...

The college of optics at my undergrad was full of French students. There are strong collaborations with French researchers. Many French students go there for their masters, Ph.D. and/or post-doc and many more participate in an exchange program. I've seen dozens of real French men, not Hollywood depictions. Furthermore, I lived in Orlando, a city full of gay men. I am not anti-French, but I am pro realism. French men are weakly built and sissy by American standards. Gay men are often sissy, but usually in very good shape.

Feel free to remove your head from your rectum at any time.

I lived in France for a time, and the men there sure didn't look like sissies. I had a big crush on a 6-footer who looked like Jean-Paul Belmondo. For a while I was in the South of France, and there were a lot of 6-pack abs being sported on the beach, unlike other places where you see quite a few fatties in Speedos ....

Wikipedia

Average height French male = 173.1-175.6 cm

Average height American male = 175.5-176.2

Take away an extra centimetre or two from the American average due to a diet high in meat full of growth hormones and high fructose cory syrup, and two are basically equal.

The only physycal advantage the average American would have over the average Frenchman is a weight advantage.

Dems the facts.

The average gay men isn't your average American man. Gay men score ~1 sigma higher in IQ. g is often a good correlate to overall physical fitness.

Ramadunce,

I was actually just throwing in the Latin "tu" for the hell of it. I wasn't intending to quote any French pronouns, as, for starters, I'm much more fluent in Spanish.

Oh, so, basically, you've never set foot in my country, have you? So, at the very least, I did have some actual brief exposure to the subject of my ire, but, you, like one of those silly medieval monks who invented Prester John's kingdom in Africa in faked travel prose while never leaving the safety of his monkish monastery, are just making the shit up as you make your drooling idiot way through life. I'll bet you take "Jerry Springer" as a typical slice of American life, don't you?

Yeah, well, I guess it's fair of me to make up some "facts" about England from my encounters with a bunch of brain-dead chavs, reading about football hooligans in the press, and having watched some bad Sherlock Holmes films. It would be just about as accurate as your moronic inventions regarding "America-land," that benighted lost nation across the far northern ocean, next to Atlantis.

You are a true cretin on every level, even down to taking such an obviously joking ballot as a serious diatribe against the French nation.
by Felix on Sun Apr 22, 07 9:42pm [+]

Oh, and I NEVER select the "joke" option, mojo, because then the ballot gets buried and no one ever sees it.
