It is important to integrate into the values of individual rights, tolerance, and democracy. When one moves to the West and wants to become a citizen of a Western country, that implies to me that they want to become a Westerner- which simply implies respecting diversity, supporting individual rights, and defending the great democratic values.
The current threat of a British suicide bomber is due to the fact that there is no intergration between Muslims and English people in England. I live in Southampton, and until recently I believed that Southampton did not have a large Muslim population. However, upon taking an unfamiliar way home from a football match I found myself surrounded by Mosques, halal meat shops and bollywood cinema's. This is a familiar scene throughout the country. Muslims are not moving to Britain they are moving to Muslim suburbs in Britain, meaning they are not intergrating with the British public and vice-versa. Many immigrants do not know how to speak English because there is no need for them to do so, this creates an air of fear and intolerance on both sides. To reduce the risk of another 7/7 Muslim intergration with the British public is vital.

I see nothing wrong with teaching new immigrants the history,culture,mores and laws of the new nation they moved to because these immigrants will become citizens and will need to be familar with the values of their new society.

not at all. if you moved to an islamic country, you can bet they would teach islamic law to all. it's time that the west stopped this self-loathing -- we are who we are and if people from outside "our culture" want to live amongst us, great -- but then they have to expect to adapt as required.
