NO INCEST OR LYNCHING, TEXAS MIGRANTS TOLD

Don’t beat women to death, lynch blacks, or drag them behind pickups, redneck immigrants wishing to live in the town of Yuptown, New York, have been told.

The rules come in a new town council declaration on culture that Texans have branded shocking and insulting.

New York is in the midst of a huge debate on integrating immigrant cultures.

New York police are investigating an officer who wrote a song called Take This Texan and Shove Him, which says redneck immigrants are undermining Northern culture.

Yuptown, which has one white trash immigrant family in its population of about 1,300, is 100 miles north-west of New York.

Its council published the new rules on the town's website.

"We wish to inform these new arrivals that the way of life which they abandoned when they left their double-wide trailers of origin cannot be recreated here," the declaration reads.

"We consider it completely outside norms to...have sex with siblings, cousins, aunts, uncles, and farm animals, and to lynch, burn crosses near, or drag non-whites and Jews behind pickup trucks with large tires.

It points out that women are allowed to drive, vote, dance, own their own homes, and pump out their own septic tanks.

The rules ban Klan children from carrying ceremonial burning crosses to school, even though the Supreme Court has ruled they can.

The man behind the declaration, Mayor Biff LeDouche, told the New York Post newspaper the rules were not racist.

"We invite people from all nationalities, all languages, all sexual orientations, all blighted areas, whatever, to come live with us, but we want them to know ahead of time how we live," he said.

Mr LeDouche said there had been a number of recent incidents of culture clashes that meant the new rules were needed. However, the president of the Texas Council of the Sons of the Confederacy, Jodelle Bubbazog, condemned the council, saying it had set back redneck & normal people relations decades.

He told Reuters news agency: "I were shocked and insulted to see them kinds of false stereotypes and ignorance about Texas and rednecks. The South shall rise agin’!"

Do you think it is fair for towns or nations to lay out explicitly what sort of behavior will be tolerated from immigrants (no sex with relatives, or lynching blacks, for instance)? Or is it bigoted to assume that people moving here from Texas where such practices are commonplace might not realize that the same rules don't apply here? In other words, should they assume these redneck immigrants have already adopted civilized values prior to immigrating?
