There are always cicrumstances that you might not understand too well. I had a friend who was friends with a guy who was deemed a sexual offender. Why? because when he was 19 he had sex with a 16 year old. People are quick to lable others into "group catergories" without exceptions. Do you?

The problem with that is, once the "guilt by association" chain keeps on building and building, you find that your best freind is the friend of a friend of a friend of an enemy, and the chain can go on and on until it includes just about everybody you associate with.

sometimes, it would depend on the situation.

^ Yeah, there is some stuff that I just don't want to be associated with... like I wouldn't hang out with someone who supports the KKK or a hate group. A lot of people get into trouble hanging with the whole "gang association" and end up dying because of it. Just becase one person doesn't judge you by your company doesn't guarantee your personal safety either.

My sister-in-law is friends with this woman that I just can't stand. She's drunk, dirty, foul-mouthed and lazy. The two of them are so opposite that I don't even know how they're friends. My sis-in-law commented once about how when she takes the friend with her shopping and tries to use her credit cards, that she's treated like she stole them or something, but when she goes shopping without the friend, she's treated with the most respect and she has no problems at all using her credit cards. Well, duh! So sometimes you are treated as if you are guilty by association.

Since you ask three questions, I am answering the Ballot Title Question. This is not the sole qualifier though. Often times you can evaluate a persons character by their choice of associates. Have you ever seen an FBI agent casually hang out with Clyde Burrows types (Assuming he's not under cover)? There are other things to consider though. The purpose for the association may not be for common ideals. I've associated with unsavory people I liked so I could induce a positive influence on them. Like the saying *Clothes don't make the man*, I think it also applies with the company he keeps too.

Because, if people who knew me back in my salad days and hadn't seen anythin of me since, coming into this room and finding so many of you here being friends of mine, they'd think that all of you were in need of deep psychiatric counseling...

I don't know if I'd go as far as the examples mentioned, but I know some nice people who are friends with nitwits.
yes. only stupid people associate with stupid people.
"Birds of a feather flock together." "Guilt by association"
I didn't see this ballot before I just made mine 8 months later, they are simular.
