I think there's a kernel of truth to the "Iran-Iraq" connection; but it's so mired in politics that the nature of the connection is unclear. For example, the government of Iran may have no desire to become entangled in this catastrophe; but it doesn't mean they're going to prosecute other elements within the country who may be involved somehow in Iraq.
But who gives a shit? The Bush administration is trying to stoke popular opinion towards opposition with Iran.
"Iran's President is a maniac and they are making nuclear weapons to give to terrorists to attack America." There is some truthiness to that statement. You can't flat out dismiss the whole thing. Plus it's terrifying. Those 3 things make it perfect to influence people. One immediate benefit is once again "renewing the enemy". Apparently the real enemy is Ahmadinejad and Iran; forget about Hussein and Iraq and the "insurgents". Don't even try to remember Bin Laden and Al Qaeda.

I'm really sick of this guy's bullshit.
