Probably both. I wish I knew more about the guy. Didn't King Chuck lose his head or something?
Yeah, you can go and see the shirt that he wore when he was beheaded at Warwick castle, still with the blood stains on it. Oliver Cromwell was also beheaded, though it was after his death. He was dug up, hung and beheaded, with his head being left on a pike at some palace for twenty years.

sidenote--Didn't he also outlaw Christmas?
Yes I believe he did, evil bastard.
Voted : Evil dictator
And, for once, Deity worked things the right way, the day he sent Ollie rolling. Well, from the neck up, anyway...
Bit of both. He was a bastard who ended up becoming a tyrant, and thousands died in his campaigns. But he put Britain on the road to being a true parlimentary democracy and the greatest power in the world. As for his exploits in Ireland, they have been wildly exaggerated. Putting the garrison of Drogheda to the sword was in full compliance with the rules of war in the 17th century, even if today we would view it as barbaric.
