I couldn't give a toss about what a politician chooses to be or do in his/hers private life, I only care about what their policies are. Unless of coarse things they do in their private life condradict policies they want the public to accept. For example, Ruth Kelly.

It doesn't make any difference to me what a candidate believes, as long as they're is not dogmatic and fundamentalistic with their beliefs. I'm not religios by any means, but I neither want it pushed on people or taken away from people. And I have talked to quite a few atheists who would just assume that every mention of religion in public life is gone. That's just as bad as having it pushed on you.

Best lifeform for the job, IMO. Though an atheist might win me over a bit more readliy, were he/she to promise that a firmer separation between Church and State would be established.
