I think that if you are a naughty little woman/man you should come home and promptly lay on your spouses lap. While recounting all the naughty thoughts or things you did that day, you will promptly get spanked for each "confession".

I would never spank a child. To most children, spanking is the most extreme form of violence they know. It affects them the way it would affect an adult to witness an out of control car coming towards him and not know which way to turn. What's worse about spanking is it is being done on purpose to them by someone who is supposed to love it. The stress of being spanked can stunt a child's growth. That's a fact.

Adults have more complex, psychological ways of punishing each other.

But when children are little, the only language they're equiped to understand is "Pain". It's better to discipline a child with spanking to deter defiance/insolence, then to have them injured by the more extreme dangers.
The out of control car bearing down on them will cause far greater injury (and death). A spanking may well keep them in control and out of harms way.

Children can be spanked and I think sometimes it is necessary. Now, I am not saying to "Beat" the child, I am saying a swat on the butt.

I don't agree with forgetmenot on this subject. I got spanked and I am ok, well.... except for that little spanking fetish now with the hubby.
