[+] serious ballot by contragrain
ACTIVE Apr 26,2007 - Fri Apr 25, 08
That is, if someone in your family acted like a DORK; or did TRULY EMBARRASSING things; or said and/or espoused ignorant, bigoted philosophies; would you find yourself to be MORE or LESS tolerant of their behavior than if it was coming from say, a stranger or casual acquaintance?

I'm more critical of family members in this way than I am of non-family members. 5
I'm equally critical of both. 3
other, see comment 3
I used to be more critical; now, I just accept it as "life." 2
I'm not critical at either. I have enough to take care of in my own personal life. 0

I hold my family to higher standards that strangers. Mostly because I have to spend more time around them that I would like, and that time might as well be tolerable.

Being critical is such an energy drainer. I have come to realize that being critical is actually reliving something I did not like in another. Why punish myself twice, three time, etc.? Now, I let it go.

exactly what nate said. although, that being said, my family will be forgiven a lot quicker for transgressions than strangers.

That'd be hard, After an aeroplane crash, I was brought up by apes in the congo. Poop flinging at family parties can be somewhat embarrassing though.

Because I'm nearer to them by proximity, I can see their flaws with greater clarity (i.e., when they hoose to act like frelling morons).
