My father--may he rest in peace--used to say in a very gruff voice, "Don'tcha ever go to one of those damned guys, if you're not crazy before you go, you will be afterword." Can't exactly say I agree with him on that, I know some who have benefited greatly from psychotherapy.

I don't believe in psychotherapy.

Anyone that needs help should get it. There's no shame at all to it, and I've known some very nice people that were helped a lot by it.
Not at all. My simbient lifeforms say that "Shrinks" are evil and want to erradicate them. So they're plotting to get rid of all their evil adversaries and replace them with benign, intelligent, superior, simbient lifeforms. Once they've implanted the spores in everyone, you'll be just like me. +;o} *Giggles like a little girl*

Why would someone be afraid of therapy? This could result, in part, from an ego defense mechanism known as splitting, wherein a person sees external objects or people as either all good or all bad. Anxiety is the source for most ego defense mechanisms. Furthermore, arbitrarily predicting that things will go badly represents a cognitive distortion. Cognitive distortions are ways in which our perception and conception of things become irrationally skewed towards the negative.
Call me and I'll give you pills.
