FOOD ADDITIVES: HAVE YOU KNOWLEDGE OR CONCERN ABOUT FICIN OR BROMELAIN?

I just bought some New York Strip Steaks at a local discount grocer. Under the label it read in fairly large letters, "tenderised with ficin and bromelain. After coming home and sticking it back in the freezer, I did a net search. It seems both enzymes have a variety of purposes; but, the most plausible for the food industry is that they aid with digestion. Ficin is extracted or produced by several sources, the most disconcerting of which is MICE. Bromelain is naturally produced in pineapples. My sources acknowledge they are both used in the food industry. Apparently, the producer must have thought that these steaks were going to be tough, so they "enhanced (them) with up to twelve percent of a solution" of the stuff. I'm on a budget. The (frozen pre-packaged)steaks were considerably cheaper than the same cut in the fresh meat cooler, so I thought I'd take a chance, and see what came of it. What do you think? Perhaps you know more about the enzymes than the rest of us, or you have other concerns that you would like to voice here. Would you be concerned about THESE additives?
