WHY ARE SOME PRES CANDIDATES WASTING OUR TIME TALKING ABOUT GLOBAL WARMING?

[+] serious ballot by jappy

It's truly frustrating. The facts speak for themselves. 1/2 of one degree celsius in the last 100 years change in temperature. One volcano puts more than 100 times the debris and gas into the air than mankind has one throughout our history. Ice samples pulled in Antartica show time periods where over 100 years there are much more drastic temperature changes. Not one major climate study has come even close in it's predictions of what the temperatures were going to be in the last 25 years.

Yet with all this in mind, still you hear candidates trying to stir up a state of fear, trying to scare the public into believing something that isn't really happening. We had cancer causing power lines, then the ice age was coming, then it was the widening holes in the ozone layer, now it's global warming.

What gives? Shouldn't we be worrying about other issues? The cost of gas? War in Iraq? Immigration reform? A cure for cancer? Quit wasting our time, if you want to be president, quit flatulating about this global warming bullcrap!! Why do they keep bringing this up?

Fear stirs up the public, gets attention for the candidates 6
Global Warming plays right into the hands of candidates who have hidden environmental agendas 4
Because science means nothing to them, it's all about politics, pleasing special interest groups. 3

Voted : Global Warming plays right into the hands of candidates who have hidden environmental agendas
When people have devoted their lives to a cause, they're not going to let a little thing like scientific evidence get in the way of their agendas.

We should prioritize (air) pollution ahead of global warming. Global warming is virtually intangible compared to air pollution - which is undeniable. One of the worst things we can do--assuming our goal is the prosperity and longevity of the human species--would be to 'politicize' the air each and every one of us is drawing into our lungs right now.
Still, our foreign policies are the #1 concerns of Americans in the United States right now.

I'll admit it- what I know about this subject can be tossed on the head of a pin, and still leave room for angels to have a sewing bee. I've read the opinions f others, here and in other posts, on the matter, and I think that patch had it best stated in an earlier comment in another ballot. He said, in so many words, that the problem is *not* whether the Earth is warming or cooling, but that *we ourselves* are wrecking the planet as though it's nothign more than a pair of old footburners, and we can just pick up a new pair when the holes start coming into the soles. We CAN'T. Best scientific estimates say that the nearest planet the might be capable of supporting human life is roughly 1700 light-years away. That's a bit far for us right now. We only have one planet. We need to mind it better.

Damn good ballot.

Cops: Gore III was going 100 mph with drugs in car

July 5, 2007
LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif. -- Al Gore's son was arrested early Wednesday on suspicion of possessing marijuana and prescription drugs after deputies pulled him over for speeding, authorities said.

Al Gore III, 24, was driving a Toyota Prius about 100 mph on the San Diego Freeway when he was pulled over about 2:15 a.m., sheriff's spokesman Jim Amormino said.

The deputies said they smelled marijuana and searched the car, Amormino said. They found less than an ounce of marijuana along with Xanax, Valium, Vicodin and Adderall, he said.

I do believe that humans need to work harder to conserve, but getting there by lying about it is NOT the way to go.
by jappy on Thu Jul 05, 07 5:42pm [+]

We should be worrying about the real issue: impeaching Cheney and Bush.

Although, it's important to note that those who want to censor and suppress information about global warming are almost universally global warming deniers (the Cheney Bush Administration, oil companies, fundamentalist Christians, other assorted pro-pollution rightwingers).

Face it, despite all the big lie, rightwing spin, global warming is real.

"Will Jappy ever make an anti-environmentalist ballot where he leaves the choices open?"

Politicians are ALL shit, they're only trying to get votes by pandering to the people.. THE PEOPLE are getting concerned about the future and the billions of tons of CO2 we pump into the thin atmosphere.
by Jyl on Fri Jul 06, 07 6:36am [+]

(is that too scientific for you? Can you maybe imagine taking care of the Earth because God gave it to us?)
by Jyl on Fri Jul 06, 07 7:10am [+]

Yet you avoid, by using your math, the hundreds of trillions of tons of CO2 pumped into the atmosphere by every volcanic eruption in history.

Blaming humans for this unproven theory is akin to using a bandaid to cover a sucking chest wound... humans contribution to the overall creating of carbon emissions is less than 1% of the overall total. Better try another theory.

the volcano argument has also been proven STUPID by the majority of the world's SCIENTISTS. Just a few degrees is making a difference, and will make a bigger difference as the years go by.
Maybe in 20 years you'll be able to imagine what millions of tons of trash pumped into the air means.. oh but it's InViSibLE GaSseS, you can't see it so it's not there :p
Scientists learned from ice cores that CO2 levels have never gone above 281 parts per million in 650,000 years. Now we're at 380 parts per million in the atmosphere and the change go perfectly with our fossil fuel emmisions, which is a change we've made just in the last few decades.

But don't think too hard okay, believe every word the old men will die telling you.
If I trusted you at all I'd exchange emails with you so we can keep in touch. Just remember, *I am the center of your anti-environment fight, Jappy ;) give it all you've got.
by Jyl on Wed Jul 25, 07 9:48am [+]

You see.. this is the big thing we share, we both wish everything you've ever said about this is true.
I realize (well, hope) you're not just being hateful about it, you truly believe that scientists (not politicians, but scientists) all over the world are wrong, are making this up for some dirty goal they have. I know you're being totally honest with everything you've learned about this and how you feel about it. I'm not sure why your feeling is so strong on this if you really think everything's fine, but I'm sure you mean well.
And I'd like to believe you feel there's some value to the sky, trees, oceans, and animals. I've gotten the impression before that you're a religious man.

Oh how I love to read your comments when scientists are now backtracking in high volume... it's hilarious how you talk about politics and science when the biggest supporter of global warming (haha, fake) reform is a moron politician who's main scientific following have a major personal opinionated stake in Global Warming. Can you say political environazis? When you allow your personal beliefs to pollute your 'science' you are truly a hypocritical bastard.

Any rise or fall in the global temperature of the earth is a natural progression of the earth's own climate. How DARE any of you be so egocentrical to believe that we as man have the power to change that? Seriously, get a clue.
by jappy on Thu Sep 20, 07 10:02pm [+]

You're hilarious Jappy. I've read so much about what drives your denial and and the opinions and feeling that lead you to repeat the same denial arguments over and over for years. The thing is, you're only talking to ME about it, the only one here who's been learning about this for years.. you see, *I see how pathetic this is, the fact that it's you giving the denial the most effort only makes it funnier to me.
I wasn't even gonna bother replying to you but I like what you're doing so I've missed you.

And about your last question, you do realize we've more than doubled our numbers in the last 4 decades right? I suppose you think there's something natural about our huge cities and the billions of tons of trash they pump into the air. I guess you think one animal evolving far enough to learn to pump all the oil out of the earth and burn it is perfectly natural.. and the mass-extinction of other animals (that scientists ARE all agreeing is because of humans) is just peachy!? :D

You're the best Jappy, I've had a blast showing your arguments around at other sites, I've been waiting for more from you.
Please, let it all out here, don't hold back, we're waiting on you.
