Download Eusing Free Registry Cleaner and Advanced WindowsCare2, then run them both. For the latter, after you download and run it, there'll be two side-by-side windows, the rightmost offering the update. Download that, then run it again. Sounds as though you may have registry issues. Hope it all comes out right.
And, for the former, run it twice as well, back-to-back. Some trojans like to disguise themselves, and the second sweep usually catches them.

Just for the record, FTP is file transfer protocol.
Slightly different, but I recommend Lavasoft Ad-aware too to get rid of crap that some people want to install on your computer.
^ I forgot that there are two things that use the intials FTP.
Yeah I know what you're talking about which as far as I can tell those ftp's are working for me lol.
The File Transfer Programs I am talking about are programs where you and a friend share files like maps for games.
But yeah they are file transfer protocols as well lol.
