I agree with F'getmeknot. It's just the paranoia of a few drama queens.
As I said on a previous ballot some of these (so called loss of liberty)measures helped solve 45,000 crimes last year, including 422 murders and manslaughters and 645 rapes. I'm as free as ever I was, same can't be said for the murderers and rapists. *looks left and right for the Kev*

Myself, I've been interrogated for over fourteen hours by the FBI because I dared to tell Trent Lott that he was a moron, had my e-mail sifted through because I once downloaded a copy of the Koran, just to see what all the hubbub was about, and spent half an hour on the phone with HomeInsec because I googled a few airport web sites in research for a story I'm working on. That's ain't a free society to me. Ben Franklin said it best. "They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve
neither liberty nor safety."
And no, you've got a looooooooooooong way to get to American fat levels.
oh, so i'm a drama queen, hey britvic. hmm, i don't recally ever saying i belived it to be the case. nope. all i did was present news stories of facts about civili liberties in the u.k. and i keep asking this question and never getting an answer -- why is it okay for you euros to post endless ballots on this same topic about the united states and it's all true and gospel according to you guys, but as soon as we post on the same train of thought about the same things happening in europe, you jump all over us and well, call me a drama queen. 
see that's the part i guess you didn't get. when you guys do it and we question the facts and legitimacy of the bogus claims being made, we're "blind" or "stupid" or "jingonistic flag waver." but when we do it, you guys react the same exact way you say we do. interesting. very interesting.

What you're not getting is (As I've tried to explain a few times), it wasn't your criticizing the UK that I commented on. I found a few of your facts to be wrong, and quite rightly pointed it out to you.

anyway, yeah, i think there is that threat. i don't subscribe to the notion that it's some kind of planned intrusion, but i think it will come more from governments trying to counter-act crime and terrorism. it's a slippery slope and i think that once we see all the measures they want to put in place come together like a big puzzle, it will be too late.

truth, that seems kind of extreme for what you describe. r u sure there's not more to the story than that?? i've googled sites like you describe. nothing happened. in fact i even downloaded a programs that lets you watch in real time airport activity on radar and it even shows exactly where planes are in route. nothing happened to me.
and if calling a politician a moron garnered that type of response, i'd be in big trouble, cuz i send e-mails all the time calling them much worse. nothing has ever happened to me.

truth come on man. first of all, that makes no sense cuz a muslim would actually have a copy of the koran. so why would anyone care if you downloaded it? i don't know dude, that seems kind of odd. hell, not seems kind of odd, it is kind of odd. so they have the time and resources to do all you describe? guess taxpayers are getting their money's worth hmmmmm.

Kev you have got a point. I have seen a lot of derogatory comments from British users criticising America and patronising Americans about America. Plain fact is there delusional twats. Britvic may be really old but I have never seen him do this, and I cannot remember any British user doing this for months.

thats my point truth. why would they bother with you for downloading the koran? makes no sense at all and i can tell you from a legal perspective, there is no way in hell that they would target you for downloading a religious document, so there either has to be more to the story or i don't know. but they wouldn't be watching someone for downloading the koran for so many reaons. i don't know, just seems kind of odd. and the trent lott thing too. so they grilled you for 14 hours for calling the guy a moron???? hmmmm.

Well, civil liberties have been eroded since 9/11 haven't they? But given where truthy lives, it wouldn't be surprising for him being grilled for dowloading the QU'RAN, not Koran

Lol, what a lot of people aren't getting, is that Kev already knew I'm not like that, just as I know he's not. Although there was a few points that we did disagreed on, most of it was lighthearted pisstake (Girls, you can stop panicking now  .
The thing with Truth, I can actually see shit like that happening these days. It only takes certain keywords to trip the FBI's terrorist suspect, phone tap centre. Talk about loss of civil liberties, Only in America, eh?
