I have no problems with what the counter culture achieved in those times. The fact that those same hippies became the worst conservatives in history is disheartening beyond words.

1960 - The first debate for a presidential election was televised.

1961 - John F Kennedy gives his famous speech - "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country."

1962 - John Glenn became the first man to orbit the earth - 3 times. And, oh yes, UncleRandy is Born.

1963 - Martin Luther King Jr. made the speech, "I have a Dream"
President Kennedy is assassinated in Dallas, Texas.

1964 - A British rock and roll band became VERY popular. They called themselves The Beatles.

1965 - President Johnson ordered bombing raids on North Vietnam and Americans begin protesting the war.

1966 - Walt Disney died of cancer in December.

1967 - The first heart transplant was performed in Cape Town, South Africa by Dr. Christiaan Barnard.

1968 - Martin Luther King was assassinated in Memphis, Tennessee. Two months later, Robert Kennedy, John F. Kennedy's brother was assassinated, too.

1969 - Apollo 11 landed on the moon. Neil Armstrong stated the words as he stepped on the moon... "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind."
