I think this situation is stupid. First for the action taken. I mean, who gives a rat's ass? Second, why on earth do people need to haul religious symbols into the workplace or educational settings. Christmas tree are pagan in nature as well.
Its simple really. Isn't your Christmas tree, Easter bunny, or solstice paraphernalia that you have at home enough?

I don't know fiddle, they kinda look nice , no one I know drops to their knees and worships a tree or a bunny, just decorations and many people enjoy seeing such things, especially kids
yeah. i see menorahs all the time in the city. it should be equal to all whose religion happens to celebrate at the same time of year. fiddle, don't be a scrooge. 
listen, in nyc, every other weekend is some national heritage parade. look it up. and without fail, they march down 5th avenue! in the last few weeks we've had the peruvian day parade, the marathon, the bolivian day parade, the german day parade, the half black / half-white parade! you name it.
this person who complained is just an a-hole. i'm sure there was a menorah up too or would be. people are just way too uptight lately. my philosophy? recognize all major religious / holiday celebrations with the appropriate decoration or displays.

I don't adhere to the Christian religion, or any for that matter, but what the hell? It's a tree. No ones making me bow before it, or proclaim my faith in Jesus in front of it. Looking at it does not cause any physical or emotional damage. It's just a tree to me.
