There is a new law passed by the House of Representatives called the "Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act" that has received very little mainstream media attention. It seems to centre around the creation of a congressional commission that will be empowered to hold hearings, conduct investigations, and designate various groups as "homegrown terrorists". But the definitions of terrorism and extremist beliefs are so vague they could be twisted easily to mean anything. Language inserted in the act does partially define "homegrown terrorism" as "planning" or "threatening" to use force to promote a political objective, meaning that just thinking about doing something could be enough to merit the terrorist label. The act also describes "violent radicalization" as the promotion of an "extremist belief system" without attempting to define "extremist."

Voted : This is more than a little troubling...
This law seems to be too "catch all" with undefined parameters...which in effect, leaves open the possibility of this law being abused in it's applications.
