I can't recall which one of these stellar individuals it was but, when he was first accused of being on 'roids, MLB's clever response was to, the following season, redesign the baseball itself, so that it would travel father when hit. Their official explanation was that they were putting some excitement back into the game. My official explanation? They were already trying to ccver their a$$es.
When I was a child, I wanted nothing more than to play the game. After proving incompetent in every other organized sport, baseball became the one physical activity I could excel at. I wanted to play in the Big Show. My dream was to play for the Mets in the Subway Series, and become only the second player ever to knock one out of the House That Ruth Built.
Now, I'll never watch the game again.
