SUB-PRIME NATION: ARE WE IN A RECESSION ?

We've been getting bad news everyday relating to the economy...Christmas sales were down, there's the mortgage crisis, the falling stock markets, the oil "crisis", the falling dollar, large job cutbacks, and the credit card company mega losses just to name a few...Countrywide, one of the larger Mortgage concerns in the U.S., was bought by Bank of America for 4 billion dollars. This company had assets of $199,946,230 and net earnings of $2,674,846 in 2006. That seems big time bargain basement to me, I'm no financial expert or CPA, but something seems wrong with that picture...as much as credit card companies charge, Citigroup says it lost $9.8 billion in the fourth quarter, (of 2006) and then had an 18 billion dollar write-off and these are just a few of the "signs" that all is not well...and then, there's the incredibly shrinking dollar, so, do you think we are in a recession, or do you think we are heading into a recession ? Many people don't think about some things until it effects them directly...

IMO, we've been there for almost ayear now. But the money people in the Bush Admin have played a stellar shell game with the numbers.

oh heck, just lower the prime couple of more points, deploy another couple of hundred thousand soldiers to pump up the unemployment numbers, and we will look real rosy again.

hard to explain the $2 euros to the rubes that they are trying to con though...
