My last dog died of some sort of bowel cancer. He made it through some rough patches before that though. He once at 1/2 a bottle of Tylenol and was sick for awhile, but he made it out okay. He also once ate my sister's entire easter basket full of chocolate, which oddly didn't phase him at all. Another time he was really sick for 2 days where he couldn't get up, couldn't eat or drink, and he just laid there wrapped in a blanket shaking. I sat by him for like 2 days staight, and he came out of that one. It was really hard seeing him like that because I was more attached to him than even most of the people in my life. I've had several pets die to some form of cancer. Even with my dog though, I never knew they were sick until they were gone. I won't go into how I knew it was cancer because in some cases it's a little nasty. I should say that even though their deaths all sucked, especially my best buddy Buddha (my dog :P ), their companionship was worth the sadness X 1,000,000.

My ex-girlfriend's sick cat. The cat had no hope of surviving renal failure, and she kept it alive and in pain too long.

We had a dalmation when I was a kid who had heartworms. She got over that but later had heart trouble to come around in her old age. She died in her sleep on the way to the vets office as my dad was carrying her in to be put to sleep. I had a cat also who went through several bladder infections in his old age. Once we switched vets and kept him on his special diet, he was fine though. Then he got a respiratory infection when he was about 19. His liver had started to fail by then so by the time the respiratory infection was better, he had blood poisioning. When it got he point that he was having trouble walking, I carried him to be put to sleep.

My Middle Insane Sister had a chow puppy that had an intestinal virus. Her boyfriend at the time was keeping her (the puppy) at his house, and he was too damn stuppid to know that the poor thing was sick. She died because she didn't get help in time.

I'm afraid they did die -- all from cancer. Most recently, one lingered on for months and it affected our lives in many ways. I hope this isn't happening with you, but if it is and want to talk, PM me and I'll give you my email.

It is so hard to say 'goodbye' to a little furry one who adored us. Harder even, is to make that choice for them. And, since they cannot say, 'no more', we must do it for them. It does get easier, but we never forget.
Thanks for the offer Mojo but nope I don't have anything like that other than my dog with allergies which is not lethal. Worst I have had are pets hit by cars and have them die in my arms. I know people whom have had very ill pets which they all died:(. Hey Truth was it Parvo by chance? I have been reading more health stuff for pets and humans since I'm bored again lol.
