Frankly, I want some of my closed ballots to stay dead. Also, there are far too many ballots out there already that are open and not getting any votes - and some of them are even good ballots. I'd rather you close a significant number of ballots than open a bunch. Too many new ballots that are good don't get seen. Often because they are crowded off of "similar ballots" by ballots that are more than a year old.
I go out of my way sometimes to close older ballots that are past their expiration date just so newer ballot can get seen.
Please don't do this. If its a good ballot, let the user re-open it or create a new one.
Can we get back the descriptions that come with new karma points?

Sounds good to me - especially the idea of using consensus.
I don't think it's a good idea to open old ballots, at least until the site is fixed.
If I go to the left side of the page and click on one of the topics like "music and radio" the ballot showing is already a closed ballot. If I go to the right side of this same page, it shows recent ballots, and half of those are already closed.
If I type a word into the search bar, I will get a page of ballots that use the word I typed in. The problem here though is that I can't go to the next page to see more ballots with the word I typed in.
Recently, nuckinfutz reopened his old ballots, which is fine, but they all seem to have come to the front, pushing other ballots back further, which we can't see without being able to click on a next page. If you reopen all these closed ballots right now, that's all that's going to be showing when we look for similar ballots or when we search by topic.
Another example of this is when I type the word song or songs into the search bar. The whole page is basically all kiki's song ballots, and without being able to click to the next page, there's a lot of ballots that are not showing up, that also use the word song or songs, so these ballots are not even being voted on because nobody is able to see them.
BTW, we would be stuck with a "most popular" ballots list that never changes. It would be filled with ballots people have voted on mulitple times. I have some ballots that made that list before but while I am happy they did, I am glad they are closed now. They had their time in the sun, let some other ballots have theirs.
