It knows how to open sliding doors, and cupboards, as well as regular doors if they are not quite closed properly.

My Cat is amazing! The other day he was on top of a 10 foot entertainment system! I have NO idea how he got up there.

It knows when I go to bed at night, that before I can go to sleep I must pet her and scratch her head until she gets her fill.
She also tries this in the morning when I get up. But most mornings I don't have the time. But each day she still tries.

The cat I used to have was very smart. He was very well mannered in the house and never ever used the bathroom outside of his litterbox. It was something that he just did not do. Even if it was too full to his liking, he would go to the door and meow until I let him out. Then one day when I was in the bathroom, he pushed the door open and then jumped in the bathtub and pee'd. When he did, I could see that his urine had a pink tint to it, meaning that he had a urinary tract infection. I'm convinced that he knew what he was doing and was letting me know that something was wrong. After a trip to the vet and he was healed, he never did it again.
He also had a certain type of meow that sounded just like he was saying "Momma". I honestly think that he figured out that he could make a sound that sounded like what my son called me. As a result, he would only meow like that when he wanted something, namely to go outside.
The indoor cat I have now is pretty smart. One of the things he does to my son is to jump up on the stairs when he passes by them. My son pets him when he walks by and the cat loves it. Several times now, my son has gave him his pat on the head and when he quits and walks off, the cat meows. When my son looks back at him, the cat pats his own head and then looks at my son and meows louder. It's like he's telling my son "I want you to do this".
