Voted : Extinct languages
I figure this is based on hermes, the greek messenger god. So it probably has to do with communication, so I am going with extinct languages...
OK - I was wrong
Voted : Religious interpretation
Only because it sounds like "Heretics".

Voted : Religious interpretation

hmm I was lead to believe hermeneutics refered to a method of understanding texts. So it could also be applied to philosophy or indeed latin. which means the answer has 2 possible answers. It can also apply to religious education. It educates you to understand it from the point of view of the bible. but it isnt specificaly a religious concept. But I'm going to assume you mean it from a religious standpoint. even so aramaic is an extinct language. so even from that point it includes dead languages in its meaning. In fact even ancient medicine and farming is open to textual interpretation. or hermanautics....
