If fighting had never occurred, we would be in piss-poor shape. There are many forms of necessary fighting.

• We fight diseases with medical discoveries that help other diseases.
• We fight each other which has led to great inventions ujseful in peacetime.
• Fighting has led us to learn ways to defend ourselves and someday in the future, an alien invader may attack our planet.
If we had never fought each other, we would have no clue to how to defend ourselves.

Fighting is a necessary part of being alive. If we had never fought, we probably would have succumbed to diseases that our fighting has enabled us to overcome. The impetus to discover, unleash, push forward and overcome would not exist, IMO, without our inborn fightin' nature. I think they are inseparable.
Without fighting, we would be far behind where we are now, IMO.
