The udon noodle is a thick wheat based noodle popular in Japan. I was introduced to udon while stationed in Japan (in the Military) in the early 1970's. My favorite is nabeyaki Udon with tempura shrimp, fish cake, other vegetables and egg in a light slightly sweet soup...there are other styles of udon but this is my favorite choice... if you haven't tried it try it, trust me, it's very good...

Voted : I have tried udon and it's good
I like the one with white noodles, and with paper thin beef slices, with all the other goodies.

I used to eat at the japantown in san francisco while working there. I can't take that tempura stuff, the oil gives me a headache.
