Voted : A Dream
It always seemed to me like it was either a dream or a high.
Voted : Materialism and excess
It's an allegory about hedonism and self-destruction in the Southern California music industry of the late 1970s, according to Don Henley. He called it "our interpretation of the high life in Los Angeles." All the other choices are popular myths from the weirdo's who don't rest easy with simplicity.
That "American dream" thingy always makes me laugh. Reminds me of that film the Island, where all the clones are led to believe that they can win a weekly lottery to go live on a Paradise Island, just to give them something to live for. (The real "Winners" were off to be used as spare parts :o) Carrot on a stick anyone?... anyone?
