That's why they're called artists. No on ever called the Beatles artists. The Beatles we're entertainers. They made music for the sake of making music. Whereas artists only care about the money.
the beatles sucked
all the good bands had made a great musical world...then, the shit came and ruined the whole music industry
Not a big fan of the music myself, but there is something to be said for the creative process that is still involved, even if it is done at a computer or a mixer board. They (or the people behind them) ARE artists who weave together sounds and rhythms to make music/songs. That's the definition of a musician. As far as the Beatles are concerned, I think they are one of the greatest artists the music industry ever saw. To call them mere entertainers is to say that they only made music to entertain others for profit (like many of the pop stars, rappers, etc.) I believe their music was true artistic expression in it's best form. Also, RipMr2, there is still amazing music out there, it's just harder to find because we are all blinded by the flash and glitz of mainstream music.
first of all, they are making music, obviously. but what about the reality of it all? Musicians are naturally talented and do not have to glammarize with gold chains and huge asses. Did you ever stop to think about how that music would actually sell if it weren't for their gimmicks? Who the hell would want to listen to J.lo if she weren't swinging her ass in your face every second?
There's no such thing as natural talent (with the exception of prodigies). Having the skill of playing the guitar well (for example)has to be learned and practiced, just like any other craft. Rappers and pop stars have practiced and become very good at their craft. (Ask someone, "who swings their ass the best"...they'll probably say J.Lo) :) Image has always been part of the music industry. Different genres just use different "gimmicks" to identify with their audience. Pop/rap uses flash and money, country uses cowboy hats and US flags, rock uses blue jeans and long hair, etc. There's no way to tell how music would sell because one has never been without the other.
Does anyone know where I can get the sheet music for "Stunt 101"?
The sheet music for "Stunt 101" hasn't been released yet, but "In Da Club"'s sheet music has been. Go to the sheetmusicplus site and put in 50 cent.
if u can't sound good singing live then you're not considered a musician
Whose to say those aren't their innermost feelings? Not everyone is complex. Also, you can't say that writing your own lyrics is the criteria. If so, then Justin Timberlake writes some of his. So, is he NOW a musician when he wasn't before? And what about people like Eric Clapton who often records songs he didn't write? And by the way, "pop stars" is short for "popular music stars"...all the greats were the "pop stars" of their day.
Technically, I guess they are musicians, but it seems the definition of 'music' has changed since I was a kid. :-)
