We don't have 1.1 kids per family as in socialist, dying Europe, so we need to split the time up between several.
Doesn't work Felix. The time Americans spend on their kids is less, not simply less per kid. Americans do indeed spend more hours at work than other westerners, though.
"And the dumb fucks only get a couple of weeks annual holiday, too. Stupid bastards, the lot of 'em." No, you're just lazy, unmotivated, socialistic, self-righteous morons, who are being steadily replaced by Turks and North Africans.
"Doesn't work Felix. The time Americans spend on their kids is less, not simply less per kid. Americans do indeed spend more hours at work than other westerners, though." What's your source for this? I'd like to look over their figures and consider their credibility.
The kids, which i still am since i'm still in high school don't need there paretns around as other nations may need, we learn every thing from the schools these days.
This is a valid criticism of the USA. I know parents here that spend a lot of time with thier kids and are great parents, but I would agree that on average American's DO spend fewer hours with thier kids than thier European couterparts. I think that work hours and long commutes contribute to this, but partially at least, I think our culture does not value spending time with childern as much as other cultures. I know that Germans greatly value spending time with thier childern. Of course, from a child's point of view, who would want to spend time with a stinky European parent anyway?
It's hard to spend time with your kids when you're a Senior in your fifth year of 12th grade, and they're freshmen.
conservatives have fought things like the Family and Mecical Leave Act, against protections for the 40-hour work week, against expanded benefits for mothers working part-time, etc etc etc. When they say they "value the family", they mean they don't want gays to marry, not that they value actual family life.
The US unemployment rate is lower. Europe (minus UK) has a chronically high unemployment rate. That's where the so-called "cafe" society comes from. When you are unemployed/under-employed you have plenty of time to sit around and drink coffee, beer, wine and play with your children.
