Hello there! Welcome to my new ballot!

Although I don't really believe there is a way of "proving" the existence or inexistence of a higher entity, I was wondering what your opinions on this subject were. So? What do you think? Did God create men, or did men create God?

Post as many comments as you wish. I just love comments. :)

COMMENTS:
Am I sure there is no higher power no I'm not.But I think man created God to justify are existance. We as the human race don't want to believe we could be the same as the animals live ,procreate, die. We need to think there is more to it than that. Are existance must have a greater meaning and an end that eases our minds. We cannot except death as an end,and maybe it's not,I don't know.If there is a supreme being or"God" what makes any one religion think it is theirs. Is it possible there is more than one God,If there is only one who's version is right catholics, ancient egyptions, japan's budha,is it allah, maybe the hari crishna's are right.Or what if it is as simple as live, procreate and die.

The moment God would leave man forever, with no hope, world would become a huge machine withoud guidance, floating infinitely meaningless, teribly meaningless in the univers... In this world, life would be such a grim torment, that no sensible creature could live any more!... this would be indeed the end of the world!

I think think by even thinking that is disrespectful to God. but, looking at it objectively, is an interesting idea.

This debate is probably older than some religions. We don't know for sure but it seems that all possible reason points to the fact that what you see is what you get and when we die, we are no more.

U fucking moron.
What do u think. Please tell me. If there is no God, then how did the human body and the universe be created. Its impossible that anything else then a God could do soemthing like this.

The concept of a higher power was created by humans to help dispel the natural anxiety that comes from not "knowing" the answers to creation, and existence. With regards to this, many people are not comfortable living in a continuous state in which they don't know what to believe. With spirituality, God, or, more specifically, a "divine plan", a tremendous void in people's lives is filled, because they have identified their place in regards to everything. Personally, I am comfortable not knowing what to believe. My void is tempered by exploring questions, not seeking answers. The best I've come up with so far is: "There is something going on here that I can't explain." And, somehow, my intuition tells me that there are many, many gods (or forms of God) that are very real. If you truly believe in such a thing, then it does exist. But that doesn't mean that what you believe exists for other people, and they are simply unaware of it.

I believe that man created god because man has no way of finding out how man was created. so god is sort of an explanation to life. nobody will ever know how or why life was created so the early humans created a religion to try and answer all questions.I personally am agnostic. i don't know what to believe.
by Metallicanatic on Fri Apr 02, 04 2:53pm [+]

God was created to explaing the unknown. Early religions had many gods and spirits to explain things they couldn't understand, such as the wind or thunder and lightning. Now that science has evolved and we understand such occurences, gods are not needed. However, science does not have all the answers, so people created god as an easy way of explaining what science cannot. I'm hoping that maybe as humans and science progresses, we won't need these silly beliefs in supernatural beings.

Science DOES have the answer to everything, just we havent found the limits of science...100 years ago a man on the moon would have been preposterous, who know what we will know in another century. If people need acrutch to justify their existence, fine, Im for knowing and not 'having faith'. Blindfaith wil ultimately just get you killed, be it the corrupt politicians or the clergy of all faiths.
by steelhamster on Mon Apr 19, 04 11:35am [+]

There was no such concept as "God" until it sprung from men imagination.
by petion2000 on Mon Apr 19, 04 11:44am [+]

science has been wrong 99.9% of the time. Science cannot determine passed history with any accuracy. No witnesses came forward about creation. Why is the niagra falls 7 miles accross if the earth is billions of years old? 7 miles accross with 7 feet erosion every year points to only about 10,000 years old. Life cannot form non life. Who created the cosmic soup before it banged? Shit just don't appear out of thin air. What if space is infinite? That also makes the little bang laughable. Scientists love their fiction, don't they.

God creat every things in this life
And Allah said:

Ye who believe ask not questions about things which, if made plain to you, may cause you trouble. but if ye ask about things when the Quran is being revealed, they will be made plain to you, God will forgive those: for God is oft forgiving most forbearing

So we will know more in Evaluation day.

Perhaps if people were to put into practice their religious beliefs instead of being so determined to prove the existence of their gods, the planet may be more inclined to believe too, but without exception, the religions are corrupted by the people who preach it and turn on those who dont follow their dogma.

I still stand by my statement that science will ultimately provide the answers to the questions people seek. I trust those people who thing that science is 99.9 % wrong will not be travelling by car or plane as these things are obviously the work of the devil called science.

look, here's another thing to think about... how do you know that when you die in your human life, you're going to go to "heaven" or whatever. Maybe this is just the beginning of a whole series of lives, but in different places as diiferent things, so a kind of reincarnation but not in this universe. I think that idea is a load of shit but I just thought about it and how do you really KNOW?

How do you think the earth got here? Isaac Newton didn't do it. He wouldn't even alive then. Rivers, lakes, etc. didn't get here by some man pissing on the ground for 6 days. All things you see outside whether it be trees or whatever didn't get here by evolution as some believe
