last I checked, there is like 1000 US dead and 20 billion dollars... I don't see how that is ahead...

No, that is like saying that's what should have happened to Hitler. Hussein murdered 350,000 of his own people which isn't as much as Hitler's 6,000,000 but it still is mass genocide.
You gotta agree: Saddam is so horrible, the U.S. government made a big mistake installing him in power in the first place. Not to mention supplying him with all those weapons he used in killing his own people. And ESPECIALLY not to mention officially encouraging him in that killing.
