(CATHOLICS ONLY): WHY DO YOU PRAY TO DEAD SAINTS AND DEAD MARY?

[+] serious ballot by stranger7800
created Fri May 14, 04
God alone is Omniscient/all-knowing. Mary and the Catholic saints cannot possibly hear your prayers. Intercessory prayer is only for the living people. How can you believe that the Catholic saints and Mary, who are dead, are able to hear your prayers?

Errr, not only that, those saints they "worship" are the same ones they persecuted. That's a funny situation...

interesting title, stranger. "WHY DO YOU PRAY TO DEAD SAINTS AND DEAD MARY?" you're a christian, aren't you? WHY DO YOU PRAY TO DEAD JESUS?

And yet another ignorant question from H3J. tsk tsk tsk.

As you can see in the intro of this ballot, I mentioned Omniscience. Jesus is God in flesh, but when His flesh died on the cross, His spirit lives and that Spirit is omniscient. The souls of Mary and the saints are NOT omniscient, they can't possibly be since they were mortals.

These would be deemed rubbish by you as you are 'blind' in faith and would never understand the nature of God until you proclaim with your mouth and heart that Jesus is God and Saviour.

Right on!! h3jm4k, you funny weasel, its because Mary and the Saints are mere mortals, insignificant next to God. =)

If these people are going to pray to the earthly surrogate mother of Jesus then why not pray to the grandma or the uncle or maybe even the cousin twice removed?!?

I don't -- I'm Catholic and I pray straight to God. Not any saints, not Mary, not Jesus -- I pray to God. But that's just my thing. I don't get the whole thing about honoring saints.

"Jesus is God in flesh..." i'd love to see your proof. you like using science and logic to back your twisted beliefs, but it seems i've backed you into a corner on this one. even if you consider your indefinite recursion argument to prove the existance of god, you still have no proof that it manifested itself in the body of a human at any time. so i ask you again, why do you pray to dead Jesus? draw they sword, vile knave, and on the honor of your alleged savior, prove to me that Jesus was more than a mere mortal.

good question another good question is why do catholics worship someone jesus hated? theres a erse in the bible where jesus snobbed his mother and brother and said if anyone doesnt hate there parents they cant be a disiple (not in that wording) plus I believe the dead can hear our prayers.
