Admitting to a mistake, or even just being the bigger person and saying "I give in." I am not only talking about politics but in our daily lives.

COMMENTS:
In my experience, it seems to be harder for men to admit to mistakes or apologize. Ironically it's part of what makes many of them more successful in business.

yes, but apologizing in the business world is just manipulation, and is not a true apology, so its easier :D

It's really funny though sometimes. Like if you notice a teacher made a mistake and you point it out, he'll be at your throat for the rest of the school year. But also look at wars for example. Some of them are beginning to look like a snowball fight. One hits the other, the other must strike back but harder. And it keeps going on and on like an unending cycle. No one actually steps up and says "enough is enough". Quite the world we live in.

Hey thanks buddy! What's your opinion on this question anyways?
by bow_2_the_queen on Wed May 19, 04 10:20pm [+]

it's humiliating. giving in to sum1 u like is easier, but if u've bin fightin' with sum1 u really dislike/hate, u'd hardly ever want 2 give in.

I'm sorry I answered this. ;-)

If you say, "I made a mistake," too many times people will second guess you and not trust you. It's better sometimes to not admit the mistake and hope no one notices. If they do notice, you don't want to appear delusional, so just admit the mistake and move on.
by Natural_Selection on Tue Jul 06, 04 1:00pm [+]

I have no problem correcting a mistake if I end up agreeing or realizing it's a mistake, but I see no point in explicitly admitting it.
by zorra on Thu Dec 02, 04 9:08am [+]

The people can not admit their mistakes are people with very fragile ego.
