Depends how its put accross. If the display is all lit up like Las Vegas celebrating the strength of American Democracy at beating Communism, then you can understand that it may be distastefull. If it is completely factual information outlining the facts from both sides then it would be a worthwhile display.

jaPPy I agree 100%...The thing's I notice are more subtle though too, maybe you've seen them too..ever see the IBM commercials where you've got three or so WHITE, MALE, businesmen sitting in a coffee shop and in the commercials a black or hispanic has to explain to these(dunces when i guess it comes to computers) guys what a "hotspot" is? or that it's possible to pay your credit card bill over the internet? Can you imgaine if the white guys were telling the blacks or hispanic about this?? my God there would be an uproar...the U.S. government doesn't use the term "illegal alien" now when referring to ILLEGAL ALIENS, they call them "undocumented" In any commercial on t.v. that shows a thief or mugger or criminal, the person is protrayed by a white man or women....it's fucking disgusting...that "PC'ness" doesn't allow for a human to use his own natural sense about his envirionment or surroundings for the sake of harming someones feelings...the fucking muslims are upset 'cause we look more closely at them at the airport, well NO FUCKING SHIT HABIB! Absolutly true. It's fact and once more poeple are putting someones feeling before history. Here's some advice if your sensitive don't visit the museum. And i'm all for showing facts on both sides like the atrocities comitted in china by Japan, if you're thinking of just being onesided and making the Americans out as the bad guys.
I personally think they shouldn't have dropped the bombs but the PC nazi's need to shut up and let the plane be displayed for posterity.

So-Called "Political Correctness" is not a discrete concept, but a spectrum: It ranges all the way to the overly-sensitive reactions you cite to the protests of those who can't hurl epitaphs at other races with impunity.
Pushed to an extreme, like anything else, can render it ridiculous. But that doesn't mean the entire concept is ridiculous.
Plus: You naively view history as an objective collection of facts, rather than what it truly is: The narrative of whoever is currently in power, to be used to promote their purposes or denigrate their enemies.
The aircraft being displayed doesn't really help anybody to understand anything about history. To a 'foreigner' it might look more like a commemoration or celebration of what was mass-murder on an already defeated enemy.
That's not a great example. I agree with your point though, historical facts have a way of disagreeing with what is 'politically correct'.
The bombs were dropped to scare the Russians and the rest of the world. Japan had no oil so couldn't fight back and could easily have been isolated by an air and sea blockade.
A blockade would not have worked. To put this into perspective... Muslims aren't even remotely close to the fanatical and fierce patriotism that the Japanese people have for thier country. Certainly, a certain percentage of muslims do really ignorant things in the name of their God, but... and this is a big difference: every person in Japan was willing to bear arms and die of starvation or whatever to avoid surrendering to the Allies.
Islamic extremists are totally willing to attack innocent people and murder them but rarely will they stand together and fight, because of the ignorant interpretations of their religion never being the same from one unlearned murdering group to the next.
