Believe me man, I wonder the same thing.
When I was in England the bars I went to had cold beer. Turkey, they had cold beer. Korea had cold beer. Japan had cold beer. Mexico, cold beer. My German neighbors drink their beer cold too. I dont know anyone that prefers a beer warm.
Funny, I live in Germany and every German national I know prefers warm beer over cold any day. I gave my girlfriends dad a cold Icehouse and he spit the shit out. Why I asked, too cold. Many don't even keep ANY cold beverages in the fridge.
When I was in Germany the beverages were all room temp. Not warm but not icy cold either. Tasted fine to me...I managed to "force" a few beers down... :)
Yea room temperature, that's what I meant. They usually keep there beer bottle in a 12 bottle case when I go to concerts and friends house's and stuff. Many of my friends put a few beverages in the refridgerator just for me..
Gots ta be ice cold. Just out of interest can you get Tennents lager where you are? (its piss but thats like Scotlands biggest brand of lager)
Healthful benefits are the actual basis for drinking warm beer. In the days before mechanized refrigeration beer was commonly served at cellar temperatures. During summer, both cellar and serving temperatures risen, but tavern keepers never gave it a second thought, it was what people expected and drank. In the winter time warm beer was equally expected and welcomed. Interior heating of those days may have been woefully inadequate but a hot tankard provided a pleasant and comforting distraction. It added variety to what at times was a difficult and mundane lifestyle, and mulled ale further soothed the colonial spirits because warming facilitated a quicker absorption of the alcohol. But i agree nothing can beat a good cold beer on a hot day.
Ice Cream hurts my teeth. I would imagine cold beer would too.
Screw that... I have no qualms about asking for ice to put in a piss warm beer. Some people are squeamish to add ice to beer, but what the hell, if the beers warm and the days hot! We put it in every other drink... so on a hot day, I'll have an ice cold beer anytime, literally... and if you think that "It's gonna water my beer down"... drink it faster you pussy!

It's like red and white whine. Some drinks are supposed to be drank at room temperature. Chilled beer's usually better in the summer. Lager at room temperature is revolting, bitter and mild aren't.
