Interesting that I should stumble across this ballot just now, after having a similar discussion with a Trekker a few days ago.

When "First Contact" was released, there was a brief idea on the part of the producers to make one of the chars, Lieutenant Hawk, gay. There was even a scene shot (reportedly), in which Hawk made a comment leaving his sexuality stated in no uncertain terms. But H'Wood, being homophobic as always, managed to see that scene end up on the cutting room floor. A shame. Would've done a lot for both sci-fi AND society.
