I keep seeing these busts on the news. They appear to be in middle income neighborhoods. And the suspects usually have their kids on the premises.

Are times so hard that some middle income families are turning to drug traffic to survive or could it mean something else?

they just thought living in a middle income community would be a good cover	4
they need the money to support their own drug habit	3
they need the money to support their families	2
People always look for easy money	2
and this means...	0

The third one would be the reason. It's the criminals that move into the middle class so that they are "camouflaged". Those who commit crimes, they are the ones you usually expect to be criminals the least.
