The Confederate flag is usually used as a symbol of southern heritage, not racism or rebellion. (Though a lot of southern states even today are rebels and wish the Confederacy had won the Civil War. If you ask me, it's dumb to think that.)

I overlook all the negatives. The Confederate flag stands for the states having more power rather than the federal government which is how it should be. The federal government has way to much power today. Much more than the founding fathers intended.

Neither the Flag or Swastika is a symbol of hate. The Swastika is a symbol of universal peace and prosperity. The flag has nothing to do with slavery, it just happened to be around at the same time.

The flag is for Heritage I am proud that I am from the South. The slavery issue was from the North to gain support for there cause. I have known black that admit that there familles where slave owners. There familles fought for the South. Most blacks that fought for the north were conspires while those that fought for the south did so be choice and for there southern pride

Yes and no, the flag means so many different things to so many differne people. I personally feel that it honors everyone that fought in the war north and south it was about standing for what you believed in (even if it was slavery) and trying to keep what they felt was righta reality. AS for blacks trying to change the falg guess what the flag is the least of your worries you should be trying to change the minds of your haters a flag is jsut a piece of cloth and means little but an idea is worth much more.

the flag is not a racist symbol. It was simply a redesign of the union stars and bars. The civil war was not only about slaves, and yes there were slaves in the north. General Lee didn't have any, but Union General Grant did. So if there were slaves in the north maybe we shouldn't fly that one either? What about the brothers wearing and flying the X, he for one did want to overthrow the government, that to me is criminal, yet we can't say no to that because they'll just pull the race card.
It all depends upon the viewpoint of the person who is flying the flag, for what reason. Would you honestly say that the cross is a symbol of hate because so many people have burned them in the name of the KKK and racism? No... the confederate flag is a symbol of the south more than it is a symbol of racial prejudice, by far.

I thimnk it has the same bad image as the english flag( the st Georges cross- not the union jack) The St georges flag is the national flag of england and represents our heritage but when it is displayed people link it with rasicm football thuggary and the BNP. I live in the south and have also lived in the north. I've noticed that wherever you live you don't have look far to find jackasses. Rednecks infuriate me almost as much as lazy black people because almost all of the truly proud confederates of today live in the trailer park down the road and collect welfare with those of darker skin that I provide with my hard earned tax dollars. Actually, the swastika is not a symbol of hate, at least not originally. Swastikas have been used for more than 13 centuries around the world -- they were originally a symbol of unity and peace...Hitler abused the swastika for his evil purposes, therefore ruining what was once a beautiful symbol...take a stroll through Tibet or Korea today and you'll see swastikas everywhere...but they don't mean the same thing as the Nazi swastika...
